The 2019 USMS Marathon Distance Open Water National Championships will be held on September 22, 2019 in Knoxville, Tennessee.
The beautiful Fontana Lake offers an amazing venue for a 5K, 10K, and 15K open water race. The 5K loop swim course starts where the lake meets the Tsali Mountain Biking Trail Head parking lot and beach area. From the beach, swimmers will make their way out one of the lake’s fingers, around a point, across an open stretch of water to an island.
Join Lakeside Masters as they host a training event for the upcoming April is Adult Learn-to-Swim month and corresponding Swimming Saves Lives Foundation grant classes. This training is open to any USMS members whether they be new volunteer instructors or returners looking for a refresher. There will be lecture and discussion in a classroom setting as well as in-water demonstrations. A light breakfast will be served.
The first event of the 2019 Wildcat Masters Invitational, the Maehr Mile, will be held on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at the Lancaster Aquatic Center at 416 Complex Dr, Lexington, KY 40506.
The objective of this event is to swim as far as possible in one hour in any pool you choose that is 25 yards or longer. Event results are sent in electronically so you can compare yourself to other swimmers doing the same event. Some people do the 1-Hour ePostal event for competition, while others do it for fitness; all who wish to participate are welcome.
