Adult Learn-to-Swim Programs in KENTUCKY
April is Adult Learn-to-Swim month! Join Kentucky's certified Adult Learn-to-Swim (ALTS) instructors and their team of volunteer USMS members as they host FREE adult learn-to-swim classes in Louisville at the Central High School Aquatic Center and Mary T. Meagher Aquatic Center.
The U.S. Masters Swimming ALTS curriculum teaches adults to swim, feel safe in the water, and enjoy the aquatic environment. This program is for adults with limited to no prior swimming experience or those who many even have a fear of water who wish to learn the basics of swimming:
• Introduction to the Water/Overcoming Fear
• Breathing and Submersion
• Floating and Gliding (front & back)
• Freestyle and Breathing
• Treading Water
• Jumping into Deep Water
• Pool Exit
• Other Strokes (elementary backstroke, breaststroke)
This programming is made possible through a grant from the USMS Swimming Saves Lives Foundation.
